Marlins can exhaust themselves, but it is no real pattern to how long a fish can go for. In tournaments you want to get it to the boat fast and tag/release it so you can start trolling for a new one. There are many marlin fights that have gone beyond 4 hours and it has had no effect on the 'spirit' of the marlin. On the other hand, there are also many stories of fish dying after 20 minutes of extreme exertion. These days most crews will try and revive the fish if it 'passes out'

that's just wrong, to release a fish that big that can feed that many people. those things are good eatin'. btw it's probably already dead by now tree huggers.

Tag and release is great to see, theres just one problem with it, if the fight goes for more than 45 min or so the fish will die of exaustion, and if its a gut hook the fish is dead aswell.....

Yes, its a highly customized Precision 65', with twin V12, sleeps 6 + crew. She is an amazing fishing machine, a tad on the large size for Marlin but with a skip like Barry Cross you always find whatever fish you are looking for :) mvjoejoedotcom
