lovely song done wonderfully by so many. Simple to interpret. The hardships of living in one's world bring reflection or horror. Reflect and be kind(I may never be at my best).

  • Hard to believe ...

Hard to believe that such a sensitive and enduring song was written by Stephen Foster, the guy who wrote what are now considered politically incorrect (if not down-right racist) songs like "Old Black Joe" and "Way Down Upon the Swanee River". As to Verfied1's comment about it being sung too slowly, Foster wrote songs like "Beautiful Dreamer" to be sung slow. James Taylor found new depth in "Oh, Susanna" when he slowed down the tempo on "Sweet Baby James".

Great Song. So deeply meaningful and spiritual. Depressing? No...it is reflective, contemplative and speaks to the deep inward parts of the soul. Its a beautiful song and quite beautifully done here.
