Joan Baez sings "It Ain't Me, Babe" (by Bob Dylan) at a concert in 1965.
If you aren't bright enough to come up with anything better than "popgoestheDUMBweasel", please just be quiet.
People can idolize her all they want. I have no problem with other people agreeing with her. But just so you know, I'm entitled to my own opinion as well and I just don't agree with most of her views. I'm sorry if having a different opinion is such an outlandish thing for you to understand.
The "this is a protest song and I'm anti-marriage" line is a JOKE. What "lots of crazy things" did she say? We shall overcome and Give peace a chance. Gracias a la vida and Feed the Hungry and Tend to the sick and we are all brothers and sisters. Crazy things!

Her friends MLK, Chavez and John Lennon did nothin to help anyone either, Mr 22 year old sage, popgoestheDUMBweasel. Why do you think Bono,Sting, Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt etc idolize her, fool?

Joan Baez didn't just sing about it, she protested very strongly about what she saw was wrong, and she was quite right to do so. She was quite unpopular with authority. I have a deep respect for this lady.

i don't get int any of these artis and

they should all just shut and sing
I don't know what you're so defensive about. It's true...Baez said a lot of crazy things in the '60s that made no sense. It's those spoken words of hers that did nothing to help anyone. It's those opinions that didn't do anything to benefit the world or it's progress. Face it, because it's the reality of it.

Joan Baez reminds me of why I can't stand listening to or hearing about '60s radicals. The crowds of protesters and folk-singers with their self-proclaimed "protest songs" are amusing. They believed they were so wise and understood the way everything in the world works. They believed that they were so knowledgeable about everything, and yet, they didn't know squat.
pqhpa611, Thanks for all your postings. I have liked Joan Baez for years, grew up in the Bay Area nearnher, read her book, and still you taught me a few things.Nice of you to post.

Freedom, We Shall Overcome, Tears of Rage or It Aint Me Babe (from the 60s) if not poignant? Rivers,Waltzing Matilda from the 90s, or Time of Need and Day After Tomorrow from this decade. Baez is and always will be a well on inner feeling when she sings.
Cesar Chavez loved Baez and mentions her fondly over all other celebs in his autobiography. Linda Ronstadt was influenced strongly by Baez and Baez's Gracias a la Vida cd for Herb Alpert's(the most successful Hispanic entertainer in American history) A&M lable is a masterpiece. She included Spanish lyrics on her first landmark lp and has always proudly claimed her Mexican heritage(unlike Vicki Carr who felt compelled to pass as white).

By taddyd1 [Affiliate User] 1197861622 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCheck out the youtube duet clip of this song when they were still obviously very smitten with each other from Newport 64. doesn't make sense that it was written for their break -up.
Ms Baez was always very busy in the romance dept.,had a very big ego with a huge career after the break-up so I doubt if the mythical Joan Forever Weeping over Bob images are all that accurate.
Quite true, but little reported is that she was outselling Dylan in the UK at the time, and had a very successful sold out solo UK tour(with more dates than Bob's), shortly after Bob's limited "Don't Look Back" tour.
