Love Gladys Knight, who is incomparable on this song, but this is WAY too fast. Robs it of much of its soulfulness.

I prefer the song at a slower pace, too. But the passion is still there. Gladys always gives you that.

yes ..I agree..icast..why do performers think they have to "change" there song that mad e them..I never have understand that..geezz..do not like this version..too much "funked" up you know?

Sure its a bit faster than the version we all know. When someone makes a song their own over a certain length of time, eventually they take artistic license with it. Just look at anyone whos played "Unplugged". I'm guessing shes sung this song, oh, thousands of times in the past 30 years and in this instance, she's chosen to pump it up, give it a different feel. And she's succeeded, in my book. She - is - AMAZING.

I agree with all the previous posters that it was a little too fast, "Vegas like". I wish that there had been more emphasis (and lighting) on the Pips.

I think you're right about the pace and the lack of passion. It seems like it might have been a Vegas performance? I recall when I went to Vegas, I saw Ann Margaret, and Tom Jones, and their shows were like this, and totally upbeat, all the way through. But I still LOVE GLADYS and the PIPS!!!
