  • ...only on one ...

...only on one object, not on all objects as theya arise as in satipatthana vipassana meditation. I would advice to strictly practice vipassana unless one lives in the forest (or some other quite place without other duties), or can do a retreat for many months. One gains very deep concentration doing vipassana as well. One can gain a sufficient degree of concentration through the practice of vipassana alone. Best of luck.

  • Dear mindstream, ...

    Dear mindstream,

This is a vipassana practice, not a samatha practice. In order to practice samata as walking meditation, if one wants to take the actual walking as the object, one simply is aware of the feeling of the soles of the feet as the touch the floor, and push off of it etc., as one walks. Practice to percieve a nimitta takes a lot of time and a very quiet environment as one must be focused only on one object (post continued)...

  • Is this the Samatha ...

Is this the Samatha form of walking meditation or vipassana form? I'm interested in doing walking meditation as a concentration meditation, so should I use the method shown here to eventually obtain the nimitta? As I'm under the belief that the nimitta adds so much more effectiveness to awareness meditation that I should seek the nimitta first?:)
Thank you for posting this lesson, I really appreciate it.

  • Your meditation ...

Your meditation techniques are very insightful in their simpleness.
Walking meditations help with sitting meditation, but provide little spiritual awakenings, but are good techniques for controlling mindfulness.
