You want to analyze, analyze his laikari in this presentation, analyze his expression giving even more depth to his unmatchable laikari, and then analyze depth of the feeling he had reciting Khawaja Ghulam farid's kafi, then anlayze the perfection of the sur painting the words of the kafi into your soul. Are you watching the same video?, are you delirious?.

mr patbusy you are digrace if you can't do a better performance then this youself, please let me hear you sing a multani kafi, and let all judge what is "ordinary" and not. I think you have got overly excited thinking you are some kind of musicologist to be criticize Ustad salamat ali khan.

you say "salamat ali khansaab has sung this...." This has been the style of Kafi singing forever the words must be sang with as much beauty as you sing them, Again the Raga is secondary to the words, you must make yourself more familiar with this style, it is comparable to bhajans, qawallis, shabads. The inspiratins does not come from the raag but the words. I disargree with you on all accounts this is by far the greatest expression through kafi I have heard.

My freind this is Kafi which is a different form of music alltogether which has its roots in folk. Ustad salamat ali khan was a pioneer in the genre for he flowered the lines of the kafi with raag ras technique. How do you know he is'nt getting the inspiration from the words. I too have seen Salmat ali khan in better raag form. But my friend you have to understand Raaga isn't the most important aspect in Kafi singing. It is the kafi that is the most important aspect in Kafi Singing.

My friend hammerguy...see the point is that hindustani classical is not all about harkat....salamat ali khansaab has sung this song to show is vocal prowess more than to bring out the nuances of the raaga....hindustani classical is more about bhaavras....especially thumri or such lighter classical forms....you must listen to bade ghulam ali khan saab....and more over have you listened to salamat ali khan saab's classical renditions...in terms of vocal prowess they are 100 times better

How is this singing nothing special?

Fateh ali khan saab and amanat ali khan saab are also there...the singing is nothing special but the explanation of the philosophy of multani kafi is gr8.....In fact this is plain punjabi harkat ras...very ordinary.....though in general Ustad Salamat (and Nazakat both) were gr8 exponents of harkat ras which is being now copied by Parveen Sultana
