How to spot paint, how to blow in, small paint job. A small spot being painted on a Cavalier. This is a spot repair using recommended methods. We are using BASF basecoat, sherwin williams HPC15 (15 minute dry) clearcoat. For preperation we are using all 3M products.

    good job on the spot, ive used the dupont system for going on to 9yrs and when spotting something like this, the blender gives me the advantage of giving a perfect finish with just rubbing compound.

    No, it was just base coat. There was a primer surfacer applied during the prep that wasn't shown in the video. That's primer that I'm painting over.

    You buff it with a coarse compound to do 2 things. First it cleans your panel by sanding & secondly it creates scratches that are ideal for your blending reducer to adhere to. You only need to polish as far as you anticipate your blender going, but I always do the whole panel just in case you wind up going further then expected..
