    actually the word cemetery comes from the latin word "sepulcretum" (genitive form sepulcreti) which is a neuter noun meaning a burial place

    The Greek origin as as you said however it is not dormitory but "to sleep" which is a verb we merely translated it to dormitory or "resting place"
