this isn't a turbofan engine, it's a turbojet. difference is there's no fan on the front of the engine like on a 747 engine. also, rather than having bypass air, all the air goes through the compressor/combustion etc. many differences in the details; it's louder, hotter, etc, but it's also lighter faster. that's why they use them in military jets, compared to the heavier but more powerful turbofans for commercial jets. sorry, but that ruins your god idea.

his clothing was stripped off him and as it was exhausted it came alight. he didn't get sucked all the way into the compressor, for two reasons - he would have been to big and not made it through the small area (even though he got sucked through the duckting), and the restriction on the air would have caused a flame out (engine shuts down), hence reducing the suction. mainly, he's bloody lucky

This doesn't make any sense. I have studied jet engine theory, and this is not a high bypass ratio engine, meaning the velocity of the turbo fan is much higher than that of an ordinary jet. This was a miracle. The only reasonable explanation is that God miraculously reconstructed him.

If he didn't get chopped up then what the hell made the engine burst into flames?
