By brianp778blood [Affiliate User] 1203403038 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou could put it in the oven on very very low (100-140F) and let it keep warm for a few hours. You could also cook it. You can find it on youtube. Search for "crockpot soap"
By daved314 [Affiliate User] 1203402624 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeoh darn! we placed it in the freezer for an hour! oh my God! what could we do to save this "experiment"?
By brianp778blood [Affiliate User] 1203402113 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWith the olive oil it takes a lot of stirring. The soap turns into a custard type consistency at first when you pour it into the mold. Then it will go through a major chemical reaction. it will actually turn into a gel over a few hours and heat up. It will get very hot and this is why you need to cover the mold up so you can keep in the heat. So please DO NOT put it in the freezer. you want to keep it warm. So cover it with towels and blankets for 1-2 days.
By daved314 [Affiliate User] 1203401957 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehey, thanks... but my group just attempted to make soap... we're not sure if it would solidify, we only used, lye, butter(as fat), olive oil, soyabean oil, coconut oil and coffee... so were not sure if it would work, oh and by the way, do we need to place it in the freezer?
By brianp778blood [Affiliate User] 1203401678 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou will need lye (NaOH) but you can use any veggie or animal oil. So you can use crisco to make a good bar of soap if you want... just make sure you re-calculate the amount of lye.
By daved314 [Affiliate User] 1203397425 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIm making this for our chem prof, thanks... hey, are there simpler ingredients for it?
By brianp778blood [Affiliate User] 1203391372 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehard soap= sodium hydroxide
liquid soap= potassium hydroxide
whipped soap that looks like whipped cream= potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide mix, about an 80/20 blend.
I'm not sure if it's cold pressed. I just bought mine online but if you have it at your grocery store I'm sure it will work.
By daved314 [Affiliate User] 1201256518 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removetotally... it would be a pretty harsh bar of soap but it would get rid of the dirt!
By daved314 [Affiliate User] 1201256101 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCould a "bare bones" soap be made simply with Lye water and Lard?
By Pooptrooper71 [Affiliate User] 1201255776 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou could but it doesn't make a "good" bar of soap. Each oil adds a different quality to the soap. Coconut and Palm for hardness and lather, Olive and Soybean for moisturizing, Castor oil for big bubbles, etc etc.
By daved314 [Affiliate User] 1201014874 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhy did you use several kinds of oil? couldn't you use 1 kind only?
By RMlayug [Affiliate User] 1201013915 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHi is your mango butter cold pressed unrefined? if yes can I get it at the grocery store? Thanks for the soap info!
