Not true. I drove through the mud that would sunk light vehicle like Jeep etc.. in much heavier 4x4's then HUMMER and 6x6's.
The shorter wheel base is not always good too - you may endup without traction...

I do give you props for the Chevy thing but there are plenty of stock 4WDs that would go through stuff better than your Tacoma, for example a ZR2 S10.

NO NO Bennerphoto...it is a FACT that Shorter wheelbases are better in Mud, Rock Crawling and just general offroad use. A perfect example is a FOUR WHEELER...they can go through anything....because they are short small and Light weight....the hummer is Great for Large Open Area's Like DESSERT's...PLUS they haul MORE men and supplies. but they are FAR too heavy for Mudding and FAR too long for Rock Crawling.....I would hate to get that thing stuck in mud...u would need 2 winches to get it out

Today's military uses Hummers cause the carry more men and equipment....and they use them primarily in SANDY areas...Hummers are great in Sand and Open terrain. but Not the best in Mud and Rock Crawling....its just too LONG and HEAVY

FeelTehBa55 is right, the Hummers aren't good offroad compared to others. Sure they have some innovative stuff, say the hubs, but they're too heavy, too long, too low and aren't designed to be serious offorad, they're cross terrain people carriers, and they're good at doing that.
