The first presidential film with sound recording.
I'll add one last comment in defense of Coolidge. He knew that speculation was driving stock prices out of all relation to their actual value, but he felt that people should learn from their mistakes. Government interference during the Depression prolonged it and made it far worse than it otherwise would have been. Today, government involvement in the Housing sector has created a mess that can only be solved by printing more money, inflating the currency, and devaluing peoples savings.

He's like Bill Clinton, they both did nothing and the economy was good because of other individuals and they took credit for them. Clinton has sex throughout his presidency and Coolidge slept and they are 2 of our worst presidents. Coolidge also did not to protect in advance the welfare of the country. He was repeatedly warned about the looming depression and did absolutely nothing, but sleep.

Abraham Lincoln
Theodore Roosevelt
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
John F. Kennedy
Ronald Reagan
Bill Clinton
At least in my opinion only Lincoln, TR, FDR, and Reagan were good presidents. The rest were fools. Which makes me wonder what will happen this year with Obama, who I am not impressed enough with, but he is a good speaker

Coolidge failed to protect in advance the welfare of the people. Was warned repeatedly about the looming depression and did absolutely nothing, but sleep 14 hours aday. He even woke up from one his naps and asked, "Is the country still there?" What a fool?

By ddtpfri [Affiliate User] 1221837227 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveStill, he didn't do much as president. He mostly took midday naps amd did nothing to prepare the country for the looming great depression that had been repeatedly warned about. He could have done more to prepare the people and possible prevented, but he was too busy napping. This guy even once woke up from a nap and said, "Is the country still there?" That's extremely lazy, I want president that get's off his ass and works. He was hired to be president and he sits on his ass, ridiculous!
By ddtpfri [Affiliate User] 1221837113 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe KKK's ascension was a phenomena that was independent of Coolidge. It would be like arguing that FDR was a Nazi because Nazism grew in popularity under his administration. The KKK did have 2 infamous rallies in Washington, but there's no evidence that Coolidge endorsed their philosophy. Coolidge can, perhaps, be criticized for not doing enough to fight segregation and nativism, but his view of the Presidency was as a more limited office (especially when compared to post-New Deal presidents).

He's a failure and a disgrace. He didn't do much at all either took midday naps his whole time in office. The fool woke up once and said, "Is the country still there?" What a fool?

It would have likely ruined chances for re-election. But it's interesting that the KKK membership reached 4 million during his presidency and did at least 2 marches through Washington that I believe Coolidge had no qualms about.
