XM8 Assault Rifle

Yeah the guts on the XM8 are basically the same at the German G36 rifle.

The army conducted a reliability test between the M4, FN SCAR, HK 416, and the XM8. The SCAR and 416 both jammed about 1/4 as much as the M4, while the XM8 jammed 1/2 of that of the SCAR and 416.

why did they cancel it?

Yeah, true. The Germans are a very ingenuitive people. Especially with guns. Back in WWII, a lot of their success was due to their awesome machines. It's funny how the XM8 was canceled because it was done by a German company, yet all our other stuff is built in China. Hmmmmm...

The XM8 was based on the kinetic energy module of Alliant Techsystems's XM29 OICW project, of which the weapon mechanisms were the responsibility of H&K. Following the indefinite delay of the Objective Individual Combat Weapon program, the U.S. Army requested that the contractors design stand-alone weapons from the XM29's kinetic energy and high explosive modules.

even at the time it was made the us army had a struggle constructing new ones

i agree whit you and besides germans are know for their quiality and coming whit new inventions and inovations like this.

what the problem of the german gun?germans are always on top of the technology. the quality that the germans are know for is legendary. besides USA doest have anything it juts borrow tehcnology from other places.

looks like it has lot of recoil.and is made of plastic,some kind of plastics are very resistand to heat and who cares the way it looks is about how it peforms.plus is lightweight.

America is using H&K products, 416 for instance (although there are many others). Officially what they didnt like was that XM8 was not using STANAG mags. Larger calibre is not really a point here. It's more about a politics.

This "german fucking gun" is massively superior to the M16, M4 and AR15 in pretty much every respect. Why not use it in the U.S. military? I understand that your army has cancelled this and is considering a larger calibre assault rifle for superior stopping power, but say this gun was chambered for the same calibre, why not use it? You yourself say you love it. Why should America not use H&K products in it's armed forces?

Actually research a piston driven Ar, and realize why we dont need a german fucking gun in our armed forces.

I love the xm8 though, so sexy, ergonomic, and light.

I love H&K btw... America shouldnt use them militarily.
