the project X 57 chevy from the movie hollywood knights, drag racing the a/c cobra. i am re-posting this because the last time i did this, the sound was out of sybc.

    Yes, it was definitely a 4 speed. The shoebox Chevy's sometimes had that front end bounce when launched hard. The rear leaf springs would wind up and then unwind real quickly and unload the tires, then it would hook again and the front would raise, just exactly like in this vid. I've seen the same thing numerous times over the years with old '55 - '57's.

    That was a chev then 283 that was standard 283 hp off the assembly line, That era of factory muscle car. I buddy of mine had an old Merc ridiou 500 block he madified not modified for his mustang. I refused to drive with him. That thing was insain, he could never win anything because all he did was with his 3/11 truck planetary was spin out. Way to much power he racked it up and and the engin was given to some dude who died hitting a tree well over a hundred mph.

    Your right man, Fully blown big block with blower. Back then a 289 mustang with a little work put out 300 plus hp. In the 60zz the plymouth fury had the 440 big block. This one dude worked that up to 575 Hp Illeagle at the time, He also had the Godzilla battle roar hooked to a megaphone. At night you could hear him comming for miles.

    I heard that it was a cammer 427 in the cobra rated at 616hp with a 4 barrel and 658hp with twin four barrels. I beleive project X was running in the high tens during the period of time this movie was set in 1980. Also when there showing the rear of the cars while racing project was starting to go sideways a little bit.

It took an 8-71 blown big block t-bucket to make it a close race, so no small block nitroused 3500lb 55 gonna do it, dream on chevy girl

    Project X was badass! I'll always have a weak spot for the whine of a gear drive and a blower. For some reason those shoebox Chevy's seemed to do that double bounce when they launched. I think it was because the rear springs wound up and then snapped back into position that caused it. My dad has some old 8mm film he shot back in the 60's at Cordova, IL and it shows the same thing.
