Thanks! I tap the note on the fret 12 frets above from the note I'm playing, same principle as when you're playing a natural harmonic (like on the 12th, 7th or 5th fret on an open string for instance). Just touch the string (don't push it down) and remove the finger quickly and you should be fine. It's easy and it sounds cool!

what technique is that called where you tap the higher fret to get that sort of harmonic/feedback sound out of the guitar on a given note from a lower fret?

I've seen EVH use this tons of times, dimebag a couple too, just wondering if there's a videos on how to approach doing this... ?
