The BAFTA-nominated Live at the Apollo returns with a series of stand-up performances as Michael McIntyre introduces Rich Hall and Rhod Gilbert at the Hammersmith Apollo.
I don't care if he would admit anything. It is what I think. Interesting you champion Kay before rendering MM as a money grabbing careerist. Kay being the true money grabbing greedyman of the last few years.
Edgy it is not, accurate and brilliantly delivered it is. Who would you currently regard as the most gifted comic on the circuit?
"rangringadongfor", I absolutely fail to see why this is neccessary. I mean, what the hell. You've wasted your life watching this, reading through pages of comments, and written self-important comments insulting peoples intelligence. Michael Mcintyre may not be that 'edgy', but at least he's got a better sense of humour than you have m'dear ;)

I don't think even he would admit to being "gifted". His material & style is family friendly observational. Peter Kay did it a thousand times better years ago. I'd put McIntyre in the same bracket as Jason Manford in that both men see stand up & tv work as a career that can net them alot of money through touring & dvd sales. Tv careers today are short term, I don't expect to see these ppl in 10 years time, they'll be other "comic geniuses" to replace them.
If he's as hilarious as ppl seem to think he is, let's see him do a Lenny Bruce & just riff...or write a comedy series...
All it really takes to fill a theatre in Britain today is an appearance on "8 out of 10 cats" & a few Richard & Judy's. Frank Sidebottom has been around for decades...no arena dates, dvds or panel shows for him. Why? Because he's not some 30 something non entity quipping about pot noodles, 70s kids tv or his girlfriend's periods. In short, he's original.
"he is the best comic i have ever seen"
now that IS funny.
Manning WAS funny. His bigotry was obviously repellent at times, but he was a natural & had put the hard yards in working clubs for decades. There's little to choose between the university educated Perrier award clique & I think it's a case of inverted snobbery & bourgeois pc sentiment that drives modern British comedy. Since Ben Elton declared Benny Hill unfit for consumption, we've had a clique of right on Uni students dominating British comedy, many "post modern" inverted bigots amoung them
By rangringadongfor [Affiliate User] 1228713698 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's fluff. He makes Jasper Carrott seem edgy. British comedy at the moment is all about panel shows, dvds, podcasts & tours...corporate comedy for the middle income market. He is smug, most of these middle class stand ups are. Ppl like it because it's cosy & safe, reassuring observations on modern life...but it's so dull & predictable. A year ago no one knew who he was, no he's selling out tours...purely due to the power of tv. Ker-ching comedy is a good career move, plenty of cash to be made.
