I created this movie in order to illustrate the effects the octopus card has on Hong Kong and its inhabitants. The Octopus Card is extremely flexible, it can be used for identification, credit, debit, security clearance, transportation, food, etc. The shopper who is the focus of the second part of the film is Sonia Mak, a fellow graduate of the University of Florida School of Architecture and a Hong Kong resident. The music contains excerpts from: "6IE.CR" by Autechre and "Motion Picture Soundtrack" by Radiohead.

  • LOL - Apologies for ...

LOL - Apologies for my reaction, but it is presently a real sore point for me. I simply can not understand why Sydney can not have a system as good as Hong Kong - when we developed it - more than 20 years ago! Seems that we can deploy this technology all around the world, but not in our own back yard! :-(

  • I understand where ...

I understand where the goal post is but I don't see this film reaching. I enjoyed it, but felt it was loosely illustrated. At times, it actually seemed as if it was glorifying the flexibility of the octopus cards convenience and chic.

I dont know if anybody knows this, but the United Kingdom started Octopus Card simply as an expiriment for their Oyster Card, they wanted to test it out on HK first

Actually, I thought this was pretty cool. Shows how Octopus can be used in so many ways and basically is an integral part of HK.
