It was passed down. I've used the same damned gun since I was 12, stupid. And, yeah, anything over 300 is a crap shoot, I don't give a flying F**k if you use a howitzer. If you can't get close enough to shoot it where you know a kill is guaranteed, then don't shoot. You S**k , dude. You S**k .

All the subsistence hunter I know, make sure that they pack their own rifle. You know so you can depend of YOUR rifle.
Just becuase you were raised not to push yourself and your limits does not mean that anyone who takes a long shot is irresponsible. The 303 it really isn't possible to go past 300 yards, as you loose so much energy. Yeah it can kill moose, a .22 in the right spot would kill a moose. Also if your good, you only need one shot. That is being responsible.

  • Wow, I am glad that ...

Wow, I am glad that you are the "actual" definition of a hunter. If you can not make the shot then you are irresponsible, BIG difference. The ATV is using for packing the animal and camp, in some areas 30 to 50 miles to get back in where I hunt. I like the animal to be close, but in certain circumstances sometimes a long shot is required, glad you got your facts right.
So you don't even have your own rifle, you depend on other peoples.... Interesting

See, hunting, sonny Jim, isn't just how far you can shoot, rather it's how quickly you can kill.

  • ANY actual hunter ...

ANY actual hunter that is smart enough to get a kill shot will tell you that anything over 300 yards is irresponsible. It's not my fault that you seem to think hunting is taking a noisy ATV into the bush in the hopes that you can squeeze off a long shot.Cuz, it ain't.
And, I'm fairly certain that if you were to ask the 47 moose killed by myself, my brother and my father with this rifle was sufficient enough to kill it, they'd tell you that it indeed is.

You know if I where you I would just give up, because your arguement is getting awefully weak, and I would hate to see you stoop to personal blows.

OOPS MY BAD YOU ALREADY HAVE!

  • Wow, after all this ...

Wow, after all this time I S**k even after taking two moose in the last two years, yes that is my problem! LOL
Don't you think that a 303 british is a little weak to be hunting big game with? I would be more worried about wounding the animal and it getting away.
But hey if you like your round to drop 2 feet that is your problem.
Nice to see that after you question ballistics you come up wrong, because the 303 drifts 3 1/2 inches at 300 yards when sighted in at 100 yards. NOT A FOOT!

    A .303 with open sights. I don't need a scope. Sorry if I don't S**k like you.

  • What caliber are ...

What caliber are you shooting that it throws it off a foot? I shoot a 300RUM where the drift in 5 mph wind is 3 inches.
Could it possibly be that your scope isn't sighted in correctly or that you are pulling the shot or have that infamous trigger flinch? I have seen guys put a 50 BMG round into a coffee can at a mile.
If your a subsistence hunter, you sure are a bad one.
Where do you have your scope sighted in at, becuase mine is at 300 yards?
Who is lieing through their teeth?

  • So, you're a stupid ...

So, you're a stupid hunter then? Any shot beyond three hundred yards can be thrown off by a foot in a 2 mile an hour wind. So, you're either the best shot in all of Alaska, or you lie through your teeth. Wonder which one it is. You do realize that you're talking to a subsistence hunter, right?

  • If you look at my ...

If you look at my picture, that is a moose rack sitting on my 4-wheeler, the old moose that I killed. So yeah I have, and that moose was 450 yards off.
Yes the wolves would like to take down a full young healthy moose, but the old ones are still tasty, possibly why wolves go after them as well?!?!
But what whould I know, its not like I go hunt them year after year, and eat the meat I get.

  • Yeah, your're right ...

Yeah, your're right I can tell if they have a runny nose and a fever from 200 yards away. You are such a moron!
Yes my old moose is actually tasty, better then the one I got last year by the way.

  • Aerial "hunting" is ...

Aerial "hunting" is nothing more than slaughter. Shooting animals from a low flying plane amounts to the "hunters" being too damned lazy to walk the route. The wolves they slaughter hunt their prey naturally. It's unfortunate "humans" are so pathetic they resort to these methods.

Sure you have. Are the limping lame ones tasty? And buddy, if you can't tell through a scope from 200 yards, you shouldn't be hunting.
