This is a video response for the Led Mouse Flashlight Using a Joule Thief to save on batteries,
it should as long as you fit the wire around the ring withought overlapping them there realy isn't a magic number though just wrap it till you get all the way around the ring,

By coondogtheman1234 [Affiliate User] 1215375820 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeif you have lots of like in your mouse case you may want to consider upgrading your joule thief circuit with a capacitor and a more efficient transformer
google "talking electronics" and "joule thief"
Thats a good idea, yea I have one of those too the thing is you don't want the wires to be wrapped more than 18 times for some odd reason it works better when you have less wraps, try it though it may be differant then the few that I got, I tried mine and no go so I had to re wrap them.

the one your talking about is similar but you actualy only have two leads comming off of it you need to have the four leads.
Jim I opened up a telephone/answering machine and inside it i found a coil inside and the core looks just like in your video but i need to figger out how to run this thing off DC first (the answering machine) b/c i need that core so i can rehack my computer mouse like you did I just need wire which i have plenty of and what else a transistor and a white LED and a 1 AA battery holder
By coondogtheman1234 [Affiliate User] 1213874553 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYour right coondog I should have put a battery compartment in there but they do last quite a while I have let an led go on a joule thief for two weeks continuous on one AAA battery. the parts you can get at radio shack dirt cheap.
By HickfromtheSticks [Affiliate User] 1213740386 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removecomment limits S**k , 4:27 you should just use a 1 AA battery holder so you can change the batteries easier when they die or do they last so long its crazy, i think im gonna rehack my mouse flashlight and do it this way but i need parts
