Brel opened his Farewell concert at the Olympia with this unrecorded song , a put-on about a horse seduced into being a man, made to act against it's nature, used, abused and finally abandonned , its masculinity all but destroyed by its seducer. In it we find a familiar Brellian attack on a women who has failed him. Having two large front teeth called "horse teeth" and being teased about them often, we can imagine him answering the teasing with a claim to be a horse.
We might also find clues as to why he was leaving the stage in this song, e.g. singing Ne Me Quitte Pas, he misses the silence of his life as a horse.
The song is noted for Brellian word coinages such as dejumenté (un- mared), derrièrisé (hind feet-ized) and varieté (become a variety act), and the performance is lively, jumping, funny and sad.
Many thanks to philipchek of YouTube and of Paris for suggesting I translate this song, spending much time and effort explaining the colloquialisms, invented words and spirit of this song.
