    beyonce is the quintessential performer! i just saw the movie and the girl deserves an oscar. best movie role since jamie fox as ray! when the b-girl sang this she etched her name in the blues hall of fame.

    although I don't feel Beyonce did "At Last" or "All I Could Do..." justice, she did a great job with this one. Her voice sounds a little gritty here, and I like that. Also, in the movie, this scene made me cry. Well done.

    kives1985, Beyonce's voice is not pretty it's beautiful, and she sings with the same pain as in the original. Having dated and now being married to Jay-Z I'm sure she can relate to these lyrics, bc always remember a man is going to always be a man--i'll leave the rest 2 ur imagination. Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, and Beyonce are the greatest female singers of all times. 1 day (God's will), I hope to join this list.

    She sounds OK, but her voice is too pretty for these songs, AND she lacks the personality to carry these songs. She's just not evocative enough. She uses too much melisma, and her tone is not that memorable.
