Sergio Garcia is widely regarded as the favourite to lift the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale this year, but rather than feeling any extra pressure the Spaniard seems relaxed and happy carrying that tag.

  • sergio is a brat. ...

sergio is a brat. terrible temper on the course and totally a favorite with hecklers. i have absolutely no sympathy nor respect for him. he should take a few classes from true golf gents that handle the game better like tiger who in fact has all eyes on him and still behaves way better than sergio

  • A few thoughts just ...

A few thoughts just hours before the first ball is in the air.

The talking heads on the Golf Channel have already fixed an asterisk to the championship. And whoever wins will have a "but" after his name.

Woods may not be there, but neither are Peter Thomson, Arnold, Jack, Jones, Hagen, Sarazen or Trevino. And even if a healthy Woods were there, who's to say he might not do 85 in the first round again. The majority of young golf fans and writers seem to think he's bigger than the game.
