  • Early Aikido in hard times

    Early Aikido
With ref to the clothes (gi's ) hanging in the dojo. Most dojos today have heating, hot & cold running water, some have showers. In 1955 (this movie ) and the first Aikido dojo in the UK The Hut Dojo 1955 was just like this with all the gi's hanging up, they were though washed one a week. There was no heating, In the winter number one assistant Derek Eastman would get to the dojo early on a weekend and sweep the frost offf the mat ready for the arrival of the class. Times were hard and the war was not long gone and rationing was still a tough part of life.
Just consider how lucky you are.

  • From my pt of views ...

From my pt of views, the clothes hanging are clean and tidy, and are well prepared for the students coming for training. On the other hand, If I can learn Martial Art with Great Grand Master, I don't care the place is clean or not, or even with bad smell. I think you are not a Martial Artist. Am I right?

  • If people listen to ...

If people listen to Master, People to People; Country to Country; Kingdom to Kingdom will live in harmony. This is Master's Summit thinking through his life. He is the real, truthful peace-maker.He changes one's mind. He should receive the Nobel's prize.
    Salute!

  • If observing ...

If observing Master's movement in details, Master can kill us easily through walking-the less physical strength. That means he can kill people a whole day 24 hours without feeling tire. If we put this in fighting's concept, this is really really horrible!!!
How long does a boxing's fight take? 1 hr. So.. Do Grand Master realized that?
Because Master perceived the TRUTH, he turned it to the opposite extreme. He encourage to establish PEACE, Non-Violence life. Part two end.

I read books obout Aikido, and then knowing that Great Master has a dream. He hopes every Japanese's family can practice Aikido. Everything is in balance in the world: Sky-Earth, Water-Fire, Peace-War etc..Grand Master can generate peaceful power which means he can generate devil killing strength "Ofcause, Master won't". Part one end.

  • One thing's for ...

One thing's for sure. No matter how skeptical you might be about Aikido's worth as a fighting system (I stay out of this argument), it must be good physical training. Ueshiba was a hugely fit man even in his advanced years. I've never seen an elderly person move like he did.
