Coke Coca Cola Original I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing

Coke did not keep with the same slogan. They stopped, then blinked, now Pepsi took the lead. Even today I remember this advertisment. I believe it the best ever made.

This was a rare case of the hit song being written based on the jingle song. The Hillside Singers sang on both the commercial and the record. The New Seekers released their version around the same time, but were not involved with the commercial, although they were supposed to be in it (they had to turn it down due to a schedule conflict).

The Hillside Singers were not a real group per se, but the name given to the singers after they appeared in the original American Coke commercial.

I understand the band 'New Seekers' sold the song 'I'd like to teach the world to sing' after making the video for 'Coke'... my mistake - anyway, glad they could release a nice song for the benefit of the general public for the rest of us...

So Coke is a sugar-filled carbonated drink. Just because they're advertising it like this doesn't mean go and fill your fridge with it and drink nothing else. It's a treat once in a while - and if you can't live without it, try a diet version. That eliminates the sugar side of things anyway. :p

so true. on the other hand, coke can help clean our toilets and rid it of its stains. coke can also get rid of dried blood on the sidewalk after a brutal murder the night before. oh, what would we do without the lovely coca-cola? coke makes the world a cleaner place, while its chemicals simultaneously eats away at the insides of your stomach.

He's right, though. Coke associated these thoughts to make the drink more appealing. It's a simple advertising strategy. Not like the drink will unite the world or something like that.

One of the best commercials of all time-And a great song-I still sing it to myself.. And, I still consider Coke 'the real thing' -- it's a special treat once in awhile. Thanks so much for posting it - I was wondering about it, and thought I'd see if it was on The Tube :)

I think you just need to lighten up. It's a soda commercial with people from all over the world singing! Seriously, what is so wrong with that? You can't always take life so seriously. Just enjoy yourself once in a while.

the thought is beautiful. that the song is used for a coke commercial is not. coke is so bad for you, it doesn't deserve the song to be adapted for it
