  • Daeron15 , ...

Daeron15 , scientifically , according to discovery channel (where they actually had computers model several different martial artists) TKD Back Kick STRONGEST KICK; MT Knee Strike STRONGEST STRIKE IN ANY FORM. and being a practicioner (although a novice one) at Mauy Thai and a TKD instructor in Korea I would tend to agree with this. You have to use effective footwork to counter at close range with a back kick or similar.

  • Scientifically, the ...

Scientifically, the most powerful kick is the Muay Thai Roundhouse kick and you are right about the knee strike is Muay thai“s most powerful leg attack but i dont see how you can counter a knee strike with a back kick there just too little space to do it the TKD back kick is perfect for countering the Muay thai front kick though i always see it happening to the point i would never use it against a TKD fighter...

Deffinately, a frontal momentum leads to followups and combos; hit and run athletes don't make it to the big time all the time.

  • I will say as well ...

I will say as well that I don't like returning back to the original stance. I like being agressive and stepping foward into another stance. Most of the times people are stepping back anyways or looking to counter with a kick. By stepping in I can take advantage and make it into a boxing match for a few seconds. the only downside is if they decide to trap and throw... hey, nothings full prof. You make the best call I guess. Works for me.
