samsemtex has put it perfectly. both gilles and mcrae were true masters of the cars they drove. they are what racing sport is made of. brilliance on the limits of danger at all times.

GILLES VIVE

he was one of the fastest but he was not one of the greatest. He never had the racing savvy to be considered great. the way he drove was brilliant to watch but ultimately cost him more than it gained him. Much like Colin McRae in rallying really. Colin was spectacular, almost to the point of recklessness and very fast but he suffered some major accidents because of it.

i think he was killed as a reuslt of the ejeciton, cause he had neck injuries and head injuries,
