Race cars ? What do you mean by race cars ? F1 cars ? They are safer than this Merc. Rally cars ? They are also safer... Weight doesnt mean safety. Less weight = shorter brake distance = more safety. A 3 ton 1969 Cadillac isn't safer than a 1,5 ton Volvo...

This is not a race car. Let's compare how safe this Mercedes is and how safe the race cars are. Diferent points. Just that. One can't ask a lemon to be a strawberry.

the cars are developed imo the wrong way. Nowadays they get heavier, and the developers compensate this weight with huge battleship engines.Bugatti Veyron, Audi RS6, Mercedes SL... They are all around 2 tons. I prefer the lighter cars(MC'laren F1 1130 kg, Koenigsegg 1180 kg...) Less weight means better acceleration, but most importantly: better handling. It's no sense driving fast in a straight line, and then overtaken in the 1st corner by a Lotus Exige with a 4 cylinder engine...

I really don't think that is worth 300K, Maybe the low 200's

Okay, so the car is hot looking, however...

1) This is the car the SLR should have been. The SLR is now a lame duck that won't ever sell for more than 70 cents on the dollar at auction.

(2) This is a heavy car -- at 4200 lbs it's at least 500 lbs too obese, and needs Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig

3) $320K is about $70K too much. Sure this car has more balls than a Gallardo or GT2, but it's not worth the extra money (and it's toooo heavyyyy)
