Concorde Aborts Crosswind Landing

Oh it certainly did, 4 glorious, crackling, Mach 2 killing afterburners. Interestingly though, to cruise over Mach 1 it didn't need their assistance.

I think I heard Air France buying a complimentary pair of pants for each of it's passengers on this particular flight.

There are stories from air force jet pioneers of pilots who would go "booming."They would fly their plane from test fields in the desert to residential areas, swoop low over houses and reach mach speed, shattering thousands of windows in the process. Pilots are badass.

why i ask why have they stooped this beautiful plane from flying it only had one incident

True, I remember watching this documentary about this guy who was protester against Concorde and other SST's and saying that Concorde would never land in the USA and all this crap, saying they would not lose. Then Concorde began flights to the USA. D'oh!

From my understanding, part of the reason why the concorde was not a commercial success was the protests at the time about SST. The sonic boom was not tolerated in the US where the military conducted supersonic flight over residential areas. Huge anti SST lobby groups then protested all supersonic flights over land and ultimately they won. Supersonic flight would only be allowed over oceans. Otherwise Concorde would have been alot more popular.

Ya,the Yanks were scared shitless that CANADIANS and not yanks created the most sophisticated plane/engine in the world at the time, The Arrow and the Iroquois engine. They pressured Canada to destroy the Arrow then essentially forced the people who created it to move to NASA. gOD BleSs america. C**ts .
