on some cars you loose up to 20 hP.

the A/C and P/S does not put a load on the alt. they put a load on the engine. On 90% of cars P/S is all mechanical and doesn't even draw and electrical power.

The A/C pump just has basically an on off switch which when u turn the ac on in the car sends a signal to the computer the tell the pump to turn on, and then a belt turns it from the engine, any part of an engine that puts a load on it IE Power Steering Pump, Water Pump, A/C pump, Smog pump, even some older cars that use a mechanical fan, all draw power away from the engine.

Thats why when u see guys build muscle cars they will switch to an electric fan instead of a mechanical fan, cause it frees up HP, and same goes for an electric water pump, guys will switch to it cause again it will free up HP. Now why would they switch to electrical application if what you say, it draws from the alt. which makes it spin slower, causing engine HP lose, that doesn't make since. There is only 2 ways a radio or stereo system can make ur car slower.

1, if you just have so much stereo stuff in it that weighs it down it will make it slower do to power to weigh ratio being lower and 2 if your stereo system draws so much power that the alternator can't supply enough to power the system which will causes it to drain power from the battery, in that cause u could loose some spark power.

im taken auto trans in my high school, and we talked about how using the A/C or power stearing and S**t like that drains from the ALT becaues it makes the ALT work harder to spin, wich takes away from your HP, yea not that much like 5 HP

but in racing, theres like thousands of a second that can make or break you, so 5 HP can make the diff

actually..you're wrong. using your stereo,headlights/foglights,ac etc. uses electricity..where does that come from? the alt. to make all that extra electricity it needs to work harder. which in turn makes the alt HARDER to turn(if you know anything about how alternators work).which uses up hp. not much hp..maybe at the most 5 or so. learn yo S**t

You can take a automotive class at ur local Jr. College for pretty cheap. You will learn so much about an internal combustion engine. Just because you heard something from a friend, doesn't make it true. Although u are right about the A/C it does draw power from the engine, but NEVER the alt bro

if u have the radio on, or the ac or any kind of S**t like that, it makes your alternator spin at a slower rate, wich takes away from your overall hp

unless hes driving an automatic and the year is higher then a 04 theres a program (i cant remeber waht its called) that dosent slow down teh alternator when your playing the radio or other S**t

likemelikian, i'm not sure what you're looking at but i see it added to skunk2gsr's weeks before this one was

um a N/A gsr cant beat a SRT-4... unless it was built or something -_-; that gsr is turbod. thats why in the start the SRT4 took off cuz of the stock turbo, no lag time.. but the gsr has a added turbo so his didnt spool untill a second aftedr and then he caught up. he prolly boosting high to beat that S**ker
