I perform a few double-taps, or "Hammers" with my Browning Hi-Power 9mm. Fun stuff.
No, I did not re-aquire the target between shots. So they tecnically were not controlled pairs, they were "hammers" or double taps. One clean sight picture, then two shots as fast as the weapon will cycle. On the target, impacts of the two shots were about 6 inches apart on each double tap. Still center mass. But not as prescision as a true controlled pair.

Was supposed to write "Were those really...."
Have to ask, we're to really controlled pairs? What I mean is did you actually get the sights back aligned between every shot?
Cos that's what double taps are about, 2 fast but aimed shots, not just 2 rapid shots.
IPSC do use double taps..

They may have pioneered it, especially with the Browning Hi-Power, but standard procedure now for almost all armed forces hangun tactics is the "controlled pair" AKA double tap. It's a pretty effective way to use the weapon.
