This is a short video on an amazing human being, Daniel Tammet from Bristol, England, who apparently has Savant Syndrome and can make insane calculations in his mind (even surpassing several calculators).
Credits to wisconsinmedicalsociety.org and Daniel Tammet for this video.
lucky bastard!

It switches over, ie the left side controls the right hand. Most people with incredibly hgh iq's, most famous people in Hollywood, most famous people throughout history, are more right dominant, and they are usually left-handed.
By wassup4279 [Affiliate User] 1194794334 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes! The people who bashed loccstero all need to do more research themselves. He was right, Daniel Tammat is "emotionally retarded" exactly in the way serial killers are. He cannot empathize with others, so Daniel is indeed a sociopath.
By wassup4279 [Affiliate User] 1194794048 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDaniel Tammat is technically a sociopath. He has no ability to empathize with other human beings. Why don't YOU do some research.

By GrexdieWildgans [Affiliate User] 1194253846 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removekaseofbier, exactly my point. If 10% of our brains go "unused" its just that only a certain portion is active at any one time. I doubt it would be a good thing if there was more activity. Since Temple Grandin prominently mentions "sensory jumbling" as symptom of autism, i do think it's possible that synesthesia is evidence of a logjam, of many areas of the brain activated at once by a stimuli. She suggested that rocking and repetitive motions are an attempt to deal with the sensory overload.
By whoseddit [Affiliate User] 1193841524 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis was a subject that was brought up in my psychology class recently and our professor explained how somehow there was a misunderstanding of the idea. What is really meant by the 10% used and 90% unused is actually: We only use 10% of our brains at one time. Human beings use just about all of their brains, each part has a different function, so at one given time, we only use about 10% of it. There is no huge region of our brains that isnt ever tapped.
By kaseofbier [Affiliate User] 1193834654 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI was referring to an earlier post asking about the 10% of our brains that we supposedly don't use. I also refer to the fact that Daniel was a screamer as a child, which isn't shown here but you see it mentioned in the other video "the boy wth the incredible brain" he must have been suffering.
By whoseddit [Affiliate User] 1193334092 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhen people use the 10% figure they usually add that if we could "tap that 90% potential" we'd be geniuses somehow. I think that too much information available at once can't be processed meaningfully. At any given time your computer is using a very small proportion of its memory. To use all of it at once would cause a logjam, meltdown. Autistic children, such as he was, are frequently in a constant state of meltdown.

By youhobe [Affiliate User] 1192708968 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove...uhh do some research. This guy is a savant. That is he is autistic and possesses a highly gifted skill in one particular area. In this case Daniel is autictic, he has just developed enough social skills to seem to blen in with our everyday world. Thus, he is gifted even amongst the savants, for now we can find out what goes on in these people's minds.
By people54411 [Affiliate User] 1192233759 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWe actually use a large proportion of the brain. However it all depends on which side is dominant. In the so called normal brain our right side is dominant. It has been shown that the left side is the creative (as we call it gifted side) and it is also been shown this is the more dominant in people with these gifts who have alleged disorders/ problems. To reach the level shown on these films by a "regular" brain is highly unlikely if not impossible.
