Think of this group as the combination of the USMC Band and the Silent Drill Platoon. Their primary purpose is to perform. But make no mistake, I'm sure that every member of the drill team are accomplished soldiers as well. You make these groups by being at the top. They look for "recruiting poster" caliber people to fill these spots.

By the way, this group is top notch! One of the best I've ever seen! Their musical selections are always excellent!

In fact they need Norwegian soldiers to defend them while they parade like chorus girls.

If they were real soldiers, they wouldn't need you to defend them.....

what makes you think this is the entire Norwegian army..? Come on...you can't be that stupid.
Firstly, these soldiers have gone through basic infantry training. Secondly, their not professionals, this marching unit only consist of Conscripts in the Norwegian army. Thirdly, the conscripts in the norwegian army never encounter war, unless norway is attacked, as they are only used to defend and aid the country in war. This is a unit in the kings guard battalion,specialised for one purpose Marching

So professional soldiers are reduced to a highly syncronized marching band? Now that's something to be proud of, and instead of defending the country, maybe they can put on a side show and distract and dazzle their enemies into going back home. Makes sense....

I guess when you are not fighting illegal wars, and don't have mercs (blackwater) and Israeli Commandos infiltrated into your military and police and don't torture, you have a lot of pride and it shows. What a great show! Thank you for posting.

With a comment like that we must assume that you walk, ride your bike, or maybe ride a horse everywhere and never use a car or ride the bus.
And by the way, Norwegians drill for their own oil and don't have their hands tied like the US.

I guess when you're not out fighting a war over oil, you have a lot of time on your hands. These guys are terrific.

Those are American made M1 Garand rifles. Nice to see the Norwegians know real quality when they see it. Sharp troops too.

i am also part of a show and drum korps (dont know if its called the same but stil=p) but i think you guys are gr8 on our last show everyone whas on their feet clapping and cheering it whas awesome.

Our routine maybe basic, but we are so good at the basics that we get as much or more applause from the audience than the more advanced drill teams do.

This is just fantastic drill, very disciplined and precise. And it was a pleasure seing the kings guard at the Rosenborg Tattoo in Denmark.

it's not suposed to be dificult.
Its a precision drill and they dont need all the fancy moves to be good looking. and heck, these only train for this for about 4 months before their first drill. And what you see here, is only a fragment of their main show, wich actually is about 30 mins long..

I enjoyed this. They're crazy precise, but the solist wasn't all that great. I think overall Norway's drill team is precise, but the routine lacks difficulty. Still, 5 stars o,o
