Probably something from the roof. The whistle could have been a signal and the repeated "up, up" might have been another signal to coordinate in a previously trained pace. If he watch his finger it jumps slightly more than it should have been. It is way high to sustain noodles. For the hummingbird trick is, as you said, too high.

If it is, it is very skillfully performed. But if you look closer, he never touches the chopsticks in the beginning, although he could have sticked to it before it was filmed. The problem is the spectator is too close. The second problem is the stability of the chopsticks and the force applied in the noodles to hold it. If you ever used chopsticks you know it is impossible to do it with strings.

You know exactly that Criss Angel are 99% better than this dude, even when this dude do it 100% perfect. But this dude do much more simple things which can be understood of more simple humans. The invisible elastic loops mentioned by someone above may explain the first chopstick trick, but the floating chopstick is amazing.

IMO, I still don't think it's supported by something among the noodles. Probably strings attached to the roof? Since its too high to attach to his ear as in hummingbird trick. His hand movement did not cover the left side of the stick, probably some smart string arrangement is at that point.
