this takedown rocks, you can even just grab his arms, twist them, and take him down without him puching you!!!

By lisek005 [Affiliate User] 1212155311 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's not Jabai. It's "labai" or "labay" in visayan term means "throw"
By triggermiki [Affiliate User] 1211131202 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGuys, watch some Latosa-based stuff, to see how Escrima should be applied. Search for Stonewall Shield. Chris, the instructor is all about reality based training.
By crockettburnett [Affiliate User] 1210953498 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's a Filipino fighting system.
By Zayleke [Affiliate User] 1210777989 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI agree, the whole outcome of the fight is determined by who has more skill in his art.
By MarkosRagnos [Affiliate User] 1210611255 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyaw yan is not really developed yet, it would just make the philippines look bad.

By SielaMignonette [Affiliate User] 1210602615 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou are right but it all depends on who has better control, discipline and training so it all depends and there is no way to know for sure through simple conversation.
By preluderacer88 [Affiliate User] 1210587351 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBut even if you are trained, there still will be a pause between when you decide to stop the punch and do something else(I mean, who just throws one punch?, usually a fighter will work a combo.) and if the person trying to do the Jabai is trained, then they will be able to take you down in that split second pause.
By MarkosRagnos [Affiliate User] 1210576929 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewith proper training it is not so much thinking as it is just ...instinct. i wouldnt literally stop and stand there but i would change my plan of action. for instance if i was better with my legs i would continue to spin and take their legs out with a sweep. but i would probably end up just grabbing their are and trying to take them down or break their arm. im not saying i could beat this guy or anything like that im just saying that a trained opponent would probably not be taken so easily
By preluderacer88 [Affiliate User] 1210544138 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf someone grabs your arm after you throw a punch, are you going to stop and think about not throwing the next one because he looks like he might catch it? Then if you pause he's going to use that arm and take you down or throw a strike of his own.
By MarkosRagnos [Affiliate User] 1210534600 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis eskrima a filipino martial art?
By philarmy540 [Affiliate User] 1210468069 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei'm not a gihter or anything so i don't know if my comment is legitimate, but i think this movewould work most of the time, specially in a street fight. guys flailing their arms at you could defintely fall for this.
By emmanuelibus [Affiliate User] 1209043289 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehmmm they should do one on yaw yan, i think it would be better since it uses escrima as its base.
By JRElorde [Affiliate User] 1208917052 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeaikido has alot of stuff that looks like only an idiot would fall for it but i did this in the dojo once hurts like a bitch but the once i saw this kid get his shoulder dislocated from prayercayze or however you spell it seams to me like alot of aikido woulnt work unless done exactly right but when done right owns but i only took like 5 classes cant afford it
By mdogfromDC [Affiliate User] 1208874526 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei agree that it may seem too complex to do swiftly, but i have been raised with filipino martial arts my whole life and have seen martial artists far more talented than myself still fall for this...if you practice it, it can be useful...also Aikido has a similar technique
By gilbygil11 [Affiliate User] 1207917671 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhat is that documental
By andresprada83 [Affiliate User] 1206123469 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis move wont work, seriously maybe to an idiot but not to someone who can fight...
By MothersInArms [Affiliate User] 1205583526 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyeah you can stand and have your arms broken or go down
By Xerox20077 [Affiliate User] 1205246700 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removesoooo...thats a really situational move. assuming someone will strike with the other hand once you catch the first blow.if i saw someone catch my first blow and stand there likie that about to catch the next one. i would probly have to go back to good ole low blows and kick em in the nuts. lol. im more of a jiu jitsu man though
By preluderacer88 [Affiliate User] 1205019048 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeit's a joint lock you can't do S**t against it, if you don't go down you will suffer

By AGEheat [Affiliate User] 1204933621 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou couldnt really flip someone bigger than you or barley flip someone your size. i would sweep both his legs to a downwards hook kick
By EMMDM [Affiliate User] 1204923528 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLove it when he goes:
Block...Here...So basically I just twist here...And you just throw, you just..
And then he just shrugs and is like "screw it" and throws the guy! I wish my trainer was like that...
