She was incredible. I wish I wasn't so young when she passed away, I would have loved to have seen her perform. I was just starting to get into jazz when she died...what a shame :(

Ella Fizgerald was simply the greatest. The effortlessness with which she sang was almost deceptive. She served her apprenticeship with the great bands and the same conditions dont exist today to nurture a singer to this standard.

Absolutely delicious. And the BBC tribute read at the beginning of this clip actually brought tears to my eyes. I sometimes forget that Ella was loved around the entire world. And what a stylish, bewitching treatment of "Angel Eyes!!" Glorious lady, glorious song.

Wow! I've been a fan of Ella for years, she was certainly a world class act and singer! I love this format (and concert), that I doubt many in the U.S. have seen before this. I hope this concert is put on DVD, I'd love to get my hands on it. Thanks for these vids for now.
