  • I never claimed to ...

I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed. :P FWIW, this isn't exactly a "typical" example of my riding habits. This was more of a "let's try this once to see what she's got"-kind of thing. Personally, I prefer riding some of the kickass twisties we have here in WA (at much more "tame" speeds than these!)

  • I'm considering ...

I'm considering doing exactly that as soon as the weather clears up. Only this time with no camera and tank-mount. I suspect that if I'm able to get into a *full* tuck with my chin hugging the steering damper, I should be able to eek a bit more out of her. I had to sit up so high to film this (due to the tank mount), that my entire head and much of my upper-torso was above the windscreen, affectively acting as a big air-brake.

  • ...Incidentally, ...

...Incidentally, I'm pretty much *done* with pushing any further on the streets. I'm at the point now where I've become a bit too confident for my own good. This summer, I plan on *finally* getting to the track where I hope to learn to ride these machines the way they were MEANT to be ridden.

  • I started on my '03 ...

I started on my '03 CBR 600RR and admittedly, that probably wasn't the best "starter bike" either. But if you use your head, you'll be fine. 130mph is still pretty damned fast and I wouldn't recommend making a habit of it, but IMO, a straight line, high-speed run is generally much safer than pushing your limits in the twisties. This run definitely got my heart pumping, but it's nowhere close to as "scary" as some of more spirited runs I've made on the backroads.

  • I've been riding ...

I've been riding for almost 5 years now and if I had it to do over again, I think I would have started with a Ninja 250. It may not have monster power, but it's still a hell of a lot more fun (IMO), than a smaller-displacement cruiser and it's a *great* bike to learn on. They can be tough to find used because their surprisingly populuar, but you can buy a brand new one for about $3500 (and if you keep it in good shape, you can sell it easily when you want something bigger).
