Joe Frazier was a small heavyweight by todays standards and Dempsey couldn't crack the top 20. Cooney wasn't managed well. They put him in against the more experienced Holmes too soon. He needed about two more years ring work and he might have been a better heavyweight.

cooney certainly had greater one-punch power than either Dempsey or Frazier.

i believe Cooney had the greatest left hook of all time. I also think that indeed, his chin was not nearly as bad as many make it out to be. Plus, he had decent boxing skills for a man of his size. his handspeed was great. However, his substance abuse issues caused him to screw up his comeback career, which has really made him look bad in many peoples eyes

Actually the boxing scribes say that Cooney's left hook may be the hardest of all time, personally I think it is a throwup between him and Bob Foster though. I don't doubt Cooneys Heart or will, and he had a good chin, he just couldn't handle the greats.
