I tried saving it as .htm and .html. The results (if you can call them that) are the same. Thanks for your reply.

Are you saving it as .html? make sure its not .txt

I cannot get IE to "run" the text file. When I open with IE, an IE window appears with the exact text of the file. It doesn't change the title/header or anything else. It just shows the text like when I open it with notepad. Any ideas? Thanks!

Make sure you have the extensions turned on. Open a folder and go up to TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > VIEW and uncheck the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types." That means your file might say "mywebpage" before and "mywebpage.txt" after.

Just make the notepad file and save it as (what ever you like.htm) .htm is the same as .html

My Documents>Tools>Folder Options>"Hide extensions for known file types" off.

Yea well all you have to do is set your notepad to all files and that should take care of it then save it

when i right click new text doc. save it "webpage.html" the icon doesnt change over it is still just a text file which can't be accessed by explorer...do you have an idea what might be wrong?

in mine it didn´t appear that the name was unsuable so when I put to open with Internet explorer nothing happen

Yes, you're right about making coders cringe. No offense, I know you're just being very basic. But to actually teach people to use center and marquee tags, not to mention not mentioning using paragraph tags and writing directly into the body isn't really a good thing to do.
