Some of MJ's favorite sayings. He's a Congo African Grey parrot. He sings and dances to the Tarantella, asks for a shower, and gets excited when he gets a treat. I edited the non-talking parts out. I hope you enjoy it!

What a cutie! I've wanted a parrot since I was a little girl...and I still do, but I travel a lot so I don't think it would be fair to the birdie, but they seem like great pets, you must never get lonely! :)

  • Not so much as ...

Not so much as difficult, but emotional maturity is that of a two year old with a 6 or 8 year old genius capacity. Make sense? They're extremely smart, but easily agitated/frustrated/scared/nervous. Good luck. Wish you the best years with your new bird, jbrandona119.

Most greys don't talk before AT least 1 year of age. But he will still learn a lot between up to 1 years old so it's important to keep talking to him even if he doesn't say words back for now.

Very normal. Mine was only whistling at 4 months old too. Give it time. Before long he will be talking up a storm - greys are the most gifted vocally - I'm sure you know that. Just spend time with him. They usually pick up language in context not really by any forced situation or by tricks. They just learn one word at a time.

I have a CAG too. And mine, outside of naps, talks all day, but he isn't a screamer. They can and will imitate loud high pitched things like sirens. If you can't take 2 lovebirds (I have one of those too), I think a grey would drive you crazy.

  • Like tweezerjs said ...

Like tweezerjs said, they do require at LOT of attention. We had a grey for a while but between school and work, we couldn't give him the attention he needed and he started plucking. :/ Just make sure you have the time. If you do, it's totally worth it-- they're really friendly and super smart.
