    You're right, so long as it's a low boost turbo and you don't have to buy new headers or change out the rear, etc. You are also right about the Neon thing. The same is true when talking about the Z compared to something like a Z06.

    My argument is that right off the factory floor, the Z is the better sports car. Even if the RX-8 handles better, the difference in power is more than enough to keep the Z in front (the RX-8 might win if the course was nothing but turns).

    Let's put it a different way. Given the same amount of cash, the RX-8 would come out ahead. For what it costs to buy the 350Z, I can get a nicely loaded RX-8, and turbocharge it. Of course, someone will then tell me they can do better than the RX-8 with a TC Neon, so I know the flaws with this approach :)

    Forgot to add... The LS1 also produces more torque which gives it an off-the-line advantage. It's capable of producing 1.8xx 60' times and the Z is lucky to break 2.0xx. But in the top end the Z walks it due to the higher rpm limit and less peaky power curve. But a 13.2 1/4 is not far from a 12.823 all things considered. I know this from personally racing them at high speeds and at the track. I've owned 2 Z's and 3 SS's.

    I'm not going to argue that it can't be modified to run better. Any car can be beefed up if you're willing to spend the cash. But given the exact same mods on both cars, the Z still has a lot more power to build from which means it should still have more power after the mods. The RX-8 may or may not handle better, but even if it is better it's not like comparing a Porche to a Pinto.

    when comparing strictly chassis and platform, the RX-8 is undoubtedly the better sports car. It's drawback however, is coming from the factory with far too little horsepower. Now that the ignition issues are worked out, we are seeing 350-400 whp RX-8s without any engine modifications. Just bolt on turbo kit.

    Now install a Greddy TT system on a Z and watch the rwhp jump by about 300. Search the Z racing forums and you'll see for yourself. Or even search Youtube. dbtrackz33 has posted some videos of his Greddy TT Z on here.

    This conversation can go on and on... In the end, the Z is the better "Sports Car". If you want a family sports car, get the RX-8.

    Yeah, and the 07' Z's 3.6L V6 is even more comparable to the Camaro SS' 5.7L V8 LS1 in power. Compare the engine specs and 1/4 mile times... What's your point?

    What are you talking about?! The Z has a perfect 50/50 weight distribution during acceleration (which is ideal) and a 48-rear/52-front when not.

    Also, not even the pre-2007 Z models can walk a 2007 Z with a CAI, exhaust and new flywheel (which has been proven at the track) and the RX-8 can't even beat those in a speed race.

    LOL, do some research. The top 1/4 mile times for a stock 2007 350z are in the 13.2's right now, and that's with only a handful of 2007 drivers/cars at the track.

    Even some of the older models have times near 13.5-13.6 stock. Check the racing forums...

    everone here seems to say how how much better the rx7 is....maybe because it was not n/a.... im sure if u stuck a factory tuned turbo maybe specifically for the rx8 that was designed just for this engine like the 7...we would see much different 1/4 and 0-60's..but ya the 7 looks sexier :D
