Alabama - this is JC's response to the racist killing of black girls in a Montgomery or Selma church in the early 60's. Pure music, pure emotion - Trane wasn't playing - God used him as a mouthpiece... RIP

By Bertili [Affiliate User] 1202413290 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveShishyupal: Coltrane was a big friend of Ravi Shankar. They used to play together. He named his son Ravi & was influenced by indian music. He was one of the 1st musicians to play what they called "world music". He dedicated a song to India. Check it out right here "coltrane : india".

By rafamendez23 [Affiliate User] 1202374496 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeduh he uses modal scales, its jazz. No one really uses harmonic and melodic scales. well not no one.
By DylanSax [Affiliate User] 1202312990 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBeing from India, I'm very fond of Raaga, the north indian classical form of music. Many tracks of Coltrane have somehow a touch of it, the common point being the use of modal scales. This Alabama track is so heart touching. A pure blend of nostalgic, joyous and bluesy feeling.
