    Shishyupal: Coltrane was a big friend of Ravi Shankar.They used to play together. He named his son Ravi & was influenced by indian music.He was one of the 1st musicians to play what they called "world music". He dedicated a song to India. Check it out right here "coltrane : india".

    Being from India, I'm very fond of Raaga, the north indian classical form of music. Many tracks of Coltrane have somehow a touch of it, the common point being the use of modal scales. This Alabama track is so heart touching. A pure blend of nostalgic, joyous and bluesy feeling.
