    Genialul Eminescu s-a bucurat de muzica unui compozitor evreu care cunostea perfect melosul popular romanesc. Compozitiile lui sunt: "Pe langa plopii fara sot", "Mai am un singur dor", "La oglinda" (ultima de Cosbuc) s.a. Compozitorul se numeste GULIELM (Wilhelm) SORBAN (2 febr. 1876, Arad - 7 iulie 1923, Dej), tatal criticului de arta Raoul Sorban (n. 1912). Pacat ca romanii il cunosc atat de putin, desi toti ii stiu melodiile lui! Shorban este uitat pe nedrept.
