I found that I have fractured one of my new cell plates for a Smack's booster design. It is my own fault in design and It has been rectified.

This video also shows some surface area increases in plate design.

  • Hi its ur mate from ...

Hi its ur mate from OZ. after doing some research (gee I sound good) the reason mayb the reaction cums of the edge of the plates more. this is why some of the guys are sealling the cell edges except for the top. so maybe the edges on the holes are doing the same and that is why the is not enough reaction to the rest of the plates. just a thought. Britney you crack me up. Lol nick

  • i used to get the ...

i used to get the vacuum - solved it with check valve to no where - just a check in top to open air, cell will S**k air easier than water from bubbler.

they are only a buck, email me , ill send you a link to them

  • I do have two ...

I do have two actually after the unit. One before the bubbler and then I have a water trap where there is a one way diaphragm before it goes to the intake as well.
The vacuum created due to the heat from the crack I suppose was just too much for the one way valves to overcome. I was going to put in a line thru the tops to below the cell plates and out to ambient air to eliminate the vacuum when I seen the crack. :)

  • You need a check ...

You need a check valve between the bubbler and the unit outlet.

  • Well, lemon juice ...

Well, lemon juice is an acid and when mixed with say copper pennies it will clean them if some salt is also added.

Far as the foaming goes I heard to try a small tiny bit of diesel fuel. Not much at all. The foaming, they say will stop. I have not tried this yet but I will have an extra cell to test it out on soon.

  • I use carbide ...

I use carbide centerdrills to go thru the plate and then carbide drills to finish the holes.

Fairly high speed as well. No drill breakage. Regular drills will not hold up in SS especially that small.

In theory and in doing the math I will increase surface area. The math proves that out, but In theory I will also increase current draw, but in theory if I can create more gas per cell then I will not need that much voltage. We shall see shortly.

  • I was told to clean ...

I was told to clean out the cell once a month with lemon juice 10% water 90% to remove the leaching rust, one guy said to do it in 160o mix for about an hour. I also have seen some use lemon juice as the catalysts which had reduced the foaming problems, but also had changed the water to black which could have been a poor quality SS, I don't know. I am just reading and watch as much as I can.

  • Normally this is ...

Normally this is caused by heat and the fast respiration of HHO gas from the cell, but you can defeat the vacuum effect by adding a small tube from the upper plate of the fuel cell straight down the inside below the actual cell plates. So the tube runs inside the cell in the electrolyte to the outside ambient air. No gas will be expelled thru the tube and the vacuum problem will stop. I was going to do this to this particular cell when I found this problem.

  • I am wondering if ...

I am wondering if it was just the fact that they are new plates? Can you drill the old plates and put them back in and see if you get the same production? I am getting ready to put mine together and will wait to see what becomes of this.
    Thanks
    Mike
