And if you want timeless socio political statements, other arts did it better than rock music.

Hendrix's songs are timeless.Tunes like "Little Wing," "Castles Made of Sand," "Machine Gun" and "Manic Depression" (among others )are truly poetic songs that use the guitar to make timeless socio-political statements. With all due respect, E.Van Hallen just writes party-hearty heavy rock. It's very good stuff, but it's not transcendent.
