very true, i for one learnt from youtube for about a year before i stratted practicing properly with friends, though i always wished i learnt from a teacher =(

you're right. but these videos can help in the initial stages where learning basics seems impossible. a combination of insane passion and videos to facilitate the learning is probably best at first. as confidence is built, jams become easier, and that's when the real learning begins.
