I have decided upon my own inclinations to translate this song in its entirety because it brings back memories of a close loved one who has since passed on to the ancestors. The message of this song, for those who have the sense to understand the magical nature of poetry and music, is not so complicated. In effect, it is very simple: Love hurts, Love heals, Love conceals, Love can appear to be a harbinger of more pain and suffering - more than even hatred at times - it CAN appear!

Mangwana's voice has that kind of timbre to it, which allows him to convey with lucidity and control the emotions that we experience when it comes to love. He does so brilliantly, almost bringing tears to the eyess, in "Faute Ya Commercant"; and in "Laissez Nous Tranquilles", his voice takes on a kind of warrior for lovers, rising and falling with every new line, but remaining solid and never faltering in tone. A genius of a singer gifted with a rare voice - in my opinion, one of the best in OK Jazz's history. As for Mzee Lutumba, well, what is there to say? Nothing much, except -- Thank you sir!
