This is a video I made to expose the problems in parallels between Christianity and Mithraism.

Edit 3/28

If you don't want to accept Christianity or the facts placed into this video, so be it. You have the right to do so, but my purpose of this video wasn't to hammer non-believers, but to defend my faith and the faith of other believers.

If you are looking for a debate.. don't waste your time. Because I'm done arguing with people who refuse listen. I would rather spend more time and effort towards those who want answers.

-God Bless

Christianity Vs Mithraism

  • "The Myth of Jesus"!

According my research : Christianity created by Romans in purpose to "put End to the Repeted Jweish-Revolt/insurgence in Massiah's-name"! Paulus employed the essence of the "Mithraism(and dualism of Zoroastrian)" to implement that ! Cyrus the great who liberated The Jwes from slavery in Babilon(536 BC), regarded by Jwedeism as the "real-Messajah" (Ezra, Yassaya,.../Torah)! So for that reason even the "image of Cyrus" used by Romans(Paulus) to create the "Myth of Jesus"! With all respect for other believers !

it doesn't say the dates in scriptures. Scholars can determine when Jesus was born off by looking at either the events or weather at that time.

If Jesus was born between September and Fall (according to scriptures), then you should be able to share with us, these scriptures. (please do)

Because what you are saying is not disproving a connection between the religions, merely confusing Christians...

Of course they aren't parallel religions, because they are not the same. But at the Council of Nicaea, it was decided (for political reasons) to include aspects,(NOT ALWAYS DIRECT PARALLELS!) of Pagan beliefs to help sway converts.

  • I can agree with ...

I can agree with that. Christianity has taken a lot from Mithraism, for example Easter and Christmas. They are Pagan holidays and it frustrates me that Christians celebrate it. What really frustrates me is when you tell them its wrong for Christians to celebrate those holidays, people get really defensive. I've worked in the church, and I've noticed a lot of so called "christians" who look like everyone else when we are called to be different.

  • You mean because ...

You mean because they preached in the streets and temples? Spreading the message is how you get people to hear it. It's kind of like advertising, whether it be for a product or an idea. The only way people hear about it, is if you tell them about it.

No offence to Christians but what the early Church did to get fallowers is pretty screwed up. Whoring out Jesus so they can get more fallowers.

  • The only traditions ...

The only traditions Christianity borrowed from Mithraism is Easter and Christmas, which was Eastre and Saturnalia. And if you are going to hammer Christianity for that, so be it. but there isn't a single verse in the bible that commands Christians to celebrate those holidays, therefor those are man made traditions not originally part of Christianity.

  • You don't even know ...

You don't even know me. Your assuming that I grew up in the church and I'm believing what I do because everyone else tells me. I've done my research and come up to my conclusion. It is not possible that Christianity borrowed any religious practices from Mithraism. Mithraism didn't come into Rome until late 1st century. By that time the apostles have already traveled around the Roman Empire and Christianity was well established.

  • Funny how you say ...

Funny how you say set your minds free. I believe what I believe because I choose to believe it, not because anyone has told me to. Yes, Christianity is an expansion of Judaism. What do you think the Old Testament is about? All the Old Testament laws, prophets, they are all related to Judaism. Several of the apostles were Jews, and so was Jesus. With Jesus dieing on the Cross, Judaism wasn't restricted to just Jews anymore. Jesus created a new covenant that allowed everyone to come to God.

  • Religions/cults ...

Religions/cults evolve. The mutations that take hold for whatever local reasons become canonized. Christianity mutated from Mithraism, Judaism, and Greek/Egyptian. Islam mutated from early christianity, judaism, and local pagan beliefs. Mormom mutated from the more familiar recent christianity... etc. etc.
Languages have evolved similarly. Everything evolves.... open your eyes and set your minds free

So it is very possible that the story of Adam and Eve was true, and retold several times throughout history and eventually came into the Egyptian legend. Even today, there are stories that get passed on through the generations.

  • Sounds very similar ...

Sounds very similar, but still so what. Stories get told several times for many years, that could just be a story that was repeated since the beginning. I'll tell you what I believe, and what the Bible says.. I believe that before there was Egypt and different nations there was one nation, that one nation was split by the event at the tower of babel. Before the tower of babel, there was the begging of Creation, where Adam and Eve came from.

  • Adam and Eve came ...

Adam and Eve came from the Heliopolitan creation myth and were the deities Geb and Nut. They had three sons Osiris, Set, and Horus. The myth goes: The father diety Shu pulled Nut from Geb's body and that Geb and Nut disobeyed Shu and Nut was punished with difficulties at childbirth. One of the brothers killed the other and the third went on to found the line of heirs to the Egyptian throne. The ancient Jews borrowed this tale and absorbed it into their own beliefs.

On top of that I have yet to find exact parallels between Jesus and other gods. People say Dionysus also created wine Like Jesus, but there is a big difference between Jesus doing it at a wedding and Dionysus creating wine so people can get drunk and become more spiritual.

  • Who is to say that ...

Who is to say that nations prior to Jesus didn't create their own God from the messianic prophesies. The prophesies of the Messiah go all the way back to Adam and Eve. I'm confident in saying that many people knew the prophesies, and they could easily create their own God.

  • Also, there was a ...

Also, there was a plethora of religions that were similar to Mithraism and Christianity that pre-date both. The themes in question were common religious beliefs in that time. Even the supposed Jewish prophecies of the coming of Jesus were common place beliefs about Gods that already were being worshiped prior to Judaism. There is really nothing new about Jesus - just another case of holy plagarism.

You say that it is possible that Mithraism borrowed themes from Christianity but the similarities in Mithraism were adopted prior to the birth of Jesus. Your loop holes are extremely weak.

  • A lot of good ...

A lot of good points there MaxerUk. I hope you understand that I'm not saying Christianity borrowed from Mithraism, but I'm defending Christianity. I added the Mithra being born of a virgin because I have seen other videos on youtube that claimed that. I have never seen any other sources that claimed Mithra was born of a virgin either, so that was to debunk other videos.

  • hi there, i have ...

hi there, i have read up on this and Mithraism does not actually say that Mithra was born from a virgin, that he was born from a rock, and his birth from this rock created a cave. The birth of Mithra dates at least a century after the time of the New Testament. It is too late to say that any "borrowing" was done by the Christian church
