Closer than anyone knew to nuclear proliferation, how did Kennedy resist the advice of his cabinet and generals thereby avoiding a war that would have obliterated human kind, and resolve the cuban missile crisis? Dean Lawrence R. Velvel interviews William H. Chafe, Professor of History and former Dean of the Faculty at Duke University about his new book Private Lives/Public Consequences, Personality and Politics in Modern America, in this episode of The Massachusetts School of Laws Books of our Time.

The Massachusetts School of Law also presents information on important current affairs to the general public in television and radio broadcasts, an intellectual journal, conferences, author appearances, blogs and books. For more information visit mslawledu.

  • i think a point ...

i think a point missed in the 'cuban' missile crisis ,is usa had nukes in turkey ,it was mainly their withdrawel that averted war ,but also that their placement into cuba was retaliating usa inc placing nukes into turkey, and now gwb wants to plant more [ok not turkey this time ], but the same neo con shell game
war is great for spending money we dont have.
