  • Erectus, which was ...

Erectus, which was VERY manlike and a great evolutionary step towards modern man, was around 1.8 mya. As you can see, the scope of mankind is QUITE broad.

  • Moreover, the ...

Moreover, the hominid family has quite a lot to it...there is a great deal preceding all members of the homo genus...but for sake of simplicity let's just say that the homo genus is all that applies. You've got homo habilis, ergaster, erectus, neandertal, rudolfensis, and a few other myriad species that have been around past 2 million years ago.

I studied Anthropology last semester...not a great deal of understanding but I've had access to a fairly recent textbook...
The most recent estimates place modern homo sapiens, as a species, as being around 130,000 years old. However, Archaic Homo Sapiens, technically the same species but of a different subspecies were around perhaps 200-300,000 years ago and shared a great anatomical similarity to modern humans.

  • "After all, if you ...

"After all, if you are wrong about Jesus, you would probably regret the middle finger jesters when you are in front of him when that day comes."

I'm sure the all-powerful, divine creator of the universe will be able to get over a petulant hand gesture or two, especially in light of the unbelievably vile behavior of His followers.

No, it's Jesus who will have a lot to answer for if I ever meet him. I don't owe HIM anything. HE fucked up MY world, not the reverse.

  • Yes, Indeed the ...

Yes, Indeed the punk rock age taught me a few things since I was a punk fan - That is, eventually 90% of punk fans eventually on time and lack of merit living in main stream conformity. The punk rock attitude per se was a very narrow view and silly in heinsight. While they flipped the finger at conformity, they now live in it to a degree because they realize it makes more sense and more wholesome then the chaos to which they swore to.

  • If we mix the ...

If we mix the learnings of punk anarchism and bible study, we would find I could theoretically take a shit on a statue of jesus but then 5 minutes later renounce my sins and speak his name as the lord and I can still giggle all the way to heaven if it existed.

I actually wont by the way (renounce), even to be safe. Because, well, fuck you jesuit oppression machine!

  • More respect wont ...

More respect wont do anything for atheists anyway so why not just throw the finger up there. The fact that I dont believe at all gets me up there in bad favour and guaranteed accomodation in hell anyway, whether or not I flip the finger or not. So why not do it? Wouldn't you show discontent to your oppressor? Didn't the age of punk rock teach you anything?

If you are an Athiest, that is one thing but I believe that you should have a little more respect for Jesus and not flip him the finger. After all, if you are wrong about Jesus, you would probably regret the middle finger jesters when you are in front of him when that day comes.

  • Humans have been ...

Humans have been around for 50,000 to 100,000 years. The three big religions have been around for 3,000 years. Judiasm, Islam and Christianity are phases, part of our evolution as a civilization. My prediction is that in 1,000 years people will regard today's 3 big religions in the same way we regard Zeus and Thor today- fantasy and a relic of our civilization, not divine truth!

not from nothing, just something that we don't fully understand yet. god came from nothing but the fearful, superstitious and naive minds of our ancestors. time to wise up and leave childish notions in the past. STUPID is when you have the facts but choose to believe in the ultimate santa claus because it makes you feel safer.

  • I believe Jesus to ...

I believe Jesus to be a man who really understood God, and if he saw what has been done with his true teachings, he would have to explain to us again what he really meant. Each one of us has the answer to everything we ever needed. Have faith in that. See how love can change your life. It is the birth of everything

  • This belief that ...

This belief that only a few men could achieve god consciousness is dangerous. Men who have impacted the world with love and true equality have all told us that we can do the same, and greater. How does perfection make something not perfect? There is one religion that says his son had to come and pay for all our sins. Pretty much telling us that God messed up with this whole creation thing, and his son had to come fix everything.

  • Soon the human race ...

Soon the human race as a whole will evolve spirituality. We are in a point in our history where there is more freedom to think and evolve. God is not religious. It is in our souls that we have our only true connection to the source. If you truly can quiet your mind and ponder only on one thing. What is God truly like? How does perfection and love punish us? How does a God who is more than us, act less than us?

i will be dead. but what used to be of me, some ethereal milky soup, with a memory of me, and some semblance of a brain, and feelings, will still exist. and forevermore, (and i mean forever) i will live with torment and painful disconnect because i didn't believe what a bunch of desert nomads wrote down on a scattered collection of scrolls. ok, where do i sign up?

  • Not really. The ...

Not really. The general (in religious circles too, for that matter) misconception about Hell is the cartoonistic vision of heat and flames. Hell, put bluntly, is not more than "place" where you cannot reach God anymore for your own efforts. You (or me) by free-will choose to go there or not not by means of actions but by the kind of relations we have with God.

so then why would god give us free will and then send us straight to hell for eternity if we didn't exercise that right in a way that pleased him? sounds like a trickster, to me.
