Donnie Darko is a 2001 psychological thriller and science fiction film, directed and written by Richard Kelly. It is about a bright but troubled teenager named Donnie Darko who is encouraged by an anthropomorphic rabbit to commit seemingly random acts of vandalism. Themes include existentialism, nihilism, sacrifice, deus ex machina, time travel, love and fear. The movie presents paradoxes never fully explained and a cryptic storyline open to multiple interpretations

    It's four hours long, stars Drew Barrymore, has a weepy, dirge-like R.E.M. song, takes fifty million years to get to its feeble point, is extremely repetitious, has inane verbal "hooks," is loaded with clichés...shall I go on? Personally, I'd rather watch "Back To The Future." Even on the 20th viewing, it's less tedious than this putrid turkey carcass.
